The group actively engages with society, decision-makers and businesses to exchange knowledge and develop user-oriented services. The aim of the ESS is to enhance knowledge and technology transfer and improve resilience, by accelerating adaptation to a rapidly changing environment.The ESS group is looking for a product designer from any nationality with interest in user centered design. The candidate will be part of the knowledge integration team and will work in the framework of different EU-funded projects. The candidate will closely collaborate with climate scientists, impact scientists and social scientists, as well as with potential and advanced users of climate information. The objective is to create products and services owning the entire process throughout research to user experience and visual design.The successful candidate is expected to learn about and participate in ongoing activities of the ESS group and to carry out user experience research, information architecture, user experience design and user interface tasks. Experience working in interdisciplinary and international teams, proven experience in the creation of intuitive and user friendly experiences, design-related tasks and an interest on the topic of climate change are key for the position.The successful candidate will be part of a diverse and international team of scientists, communication specialists and technical experts. The selected candidate will benefit from expert training and BSC-CNS staff benefits: international multidisciplinary scientific environment and advanced applied research training.Key DutiesWorking on the user experience design research with different qualitative and quantitative research methods, as well as participatory design research.Work on the user experience design, define principal goals and flows for each of the user personas defined in the research, create the user journeys to meet these goalsCreate the Information architecture of the digital products following usable and accesible guidelinesCreate the Low and High Fidelity Prototypes, test with users and iterateCreate the user interface design, work on the branding and visual guide for each projectProvide virtual design support for branding and graphicsRequirementsEducationBachelor degree in Digital Design or related field.Master’s degree in UX, design, usability or related topics. The recruitment process consists of two phases:Curriculum Analysis: Evaluation of previous experience and/or scientific history, degree, training, and other professional information relevant to the position. - 40 pointsInterview phase: The highest-rated candidates at the curriculum level will be invited to the interview phase, conducted by the corresponding department and Human Resources. In this phase, technical competencies, knowledge, skills, and professional experience related to the position, as well as the required personal competencies, will be evaluated. - 60 points. A minimum of 30 points out of 60 must be obtained to be eligible for the position.The recruitment panel will be composed of at least three people, ensuring at least 25% representation of women.In accordance with OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for each vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will begin the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview.
