The Plant Product Engineering Manager is responsible for the safe and business-oriented operation and management of product engineering and the engineering lab within the plant. Responsible for leading the development and validation of products, ensuring they meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. This role bridges engineering, application, and testing functions to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions within project timelines and budgets. The position plays a key role in driving technical excellence, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement across the engineering organization.Key Roles & ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the Plant Product Engineering function, including Engineers and the Engineering Laboratory team (comprising a Supervisor and Technicians).Oversee the development and application product engineering activities from product concept through production, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and internal standards.Manage the product engineering and validation activities related to VAVE (design changes) of products already in productionAssure that the functional risk of supplier and process changes and deviations are properly evaluated and mitigated through validationEnsure compliance to BorgWarner Product Engineering Standards and ProcessesEnsure compliance with relevant automotive industry standards and regulations (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 26262, ISO 9001).Supervise laboratory testing and validation activities, ensuring efficient use of testing resources and adherence to quality and safety standards.Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams within and outside the plant, including Product Homerooms, Application Engineering, manufacturing, quality, and global R&D.Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource planning, while providing regular status updates to stakeholders.Drive continuous improvement initiatives within engineering processes, including digitalization and lean methodologies.Ensure product compliance with applicable legal, environmental, and safety regulations (e.g., REACH, RoHS, CE marking, ECE R standards).RequirementsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.Minimum 5-10 years of experience in product or application engineering, with at least 2-5 years in a leadership role.Proven experience in the automotive industry, with strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, and DVP&R processes.Familiarity with laboratory testing methods, validation procedures, and measurement techniques.Fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are advantage.Experience with project management methodologiesExperience working in a multinational or multi-site organization.What We OfferOutstanding salary, benefitsMIP bonus = Management Incentive PlanCompany carExtra holidayAnnual premium medical check-upStable background, steady jobFlexible work arrangements home office, etc.Learning and developing opportunitiesInternal Use Only SalaryGlobal Terms of Use and Privacy StatementCarefully read the BorgWarner Privacy Policy before using this website.
