Product Manager Stock Allocation

Job Description

How do you make our customers happy? Bol.com is a popular destination for millions of online shoppers. With an assortment of about 41 million products offered through 50,000 commercial partners, the number of customer orders is large and diverse. Because we have multiple warehouses, we continuously consider how to distribute our inventory across our locations. We do this by balancing warehouse capacity, customer delivery promises, costs and sustainability. As Product Manager Stock Allocation, you’ll work with enthusiastic team members and stakeholders to form the optimal stock allocation strategy and you put your plans into practice. The biggest challenge The complexity and balancing many different opinions across the organization. To illustrate: we make pragmatic choices, such as keeping products that are regularly ordered together in stock in several warehouses so that ‘combo orders’ can be shipped as single parcels. Good for the environment, costs and good for our flexibility, because it lets us route orders to a choice of warehouses. But for which product combinations does this make sense? How precisely should we manage this? And how flexible do we want to be? And how do our partners react if we ask them to deliver to multiple warehouses? Team Stock Allocation develops innovations to (automate) these and other decisions with increasing accuracy. It is up to you to provide direction and focus in the development of these models with a strong dose of involvement of your own and in close consultation with our stakeholders. To add to the challenge (and, according to your colleagues, the fun), this puzzle is becoming more complex by the day. Because we’re constantly adding more warehouses to our logistics network, onboarding new partners, and launching new services and delivery options, like bike couriers. So our team makes a real contribution to accelerating bol.com’s overall growth. Want to help? We’d love to welcome a puzzle-loving Product Manager! What you do as Product Manager Stock Allocation In this role, you apply your leadership skills to both content and team in order to take the product to the next level — and every level that should follow, the sky is the limit! That starts with understanding this complex domain. Where are we now? What are the obstacles? And how do we overcome those challenges? Together with your team and stakeholders you define KPIs and you’ll create a data-driven vision of the future to positively influence those KPI’s and achieve maximum value for bol. Your stakeholder skills are put to the test as you will collaborate closely with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders from departments within logistics operations with teams like Capacity Management, Operations Control and Warehouse Operations. But your stakeholder span also reaches outside of logistics with teams multiple purchasing products, buying teams and partner proposition teams. Together with them you chop up your vision in a strategy that consists of smaller incremental steps to keep progress towards your vision. The team consists of four data scientists, five software engineers, and two product colleagues. It’s up to you to help the team stay focused and motivated to generate maximum value — and have fun doing it. The role requires a solid vision on logistics capacity steering, strong communication, and stakeholder management skills. The opportunities are endless, so that means making tough choices to create focus for your team and keeping stakeholders sharp.Responsibilities Your responsibilities: Develop the product vision, including KPIs to measure its success, and the related initiatives that you and your team and stakeholders will elaborate, prioritize, and launch Build strong relationships with stakeholders within and outside your own product domain and dive into their daily processe Assess the added value of innovations, make the right choices, and ensure smooth team operations Help your team achieve its ambitions by providing direction and supporting the way of working Create room for experimentation by delivering an MVP and innovating from there 3 redenen waarom dit (n)iets voor jou is Switch to find out - You have nothing to do with data science You think algorithms destroy the planet: you dislike data science, data scientists, and everyone else dealing with data and modelling - You’d rather check off tasks than adding real value You prefer checking off your large to-do list than adding real value through tangible innovations - You’re a one-man show You believe the product’s success depends solely on you. The team only contributes marginally: openness, feedback, and team dynamics are irrelevant to you + You have a heart for logistics You don’t get intimidated by a warehouse visit + You are decisive You gather information but aren’t afraid to make decisions + You get energy from teamwork You’re a natural leader who easily inspires colleagues, listens and always supports the team, especially when times are tough Where you’ll be working As Product Manager Stock Allocation, you’ll take on a leading role within the Product Group Capacity Steering. This team consists of three key products: Network Planning, Stock Allocation, and Production Planning & Steering. The Capacity Steering product group is crucial for bol’s success, as we facilitate logistics growth. The group consists of 35 colleagues with academic backgrounds. The setting is open, informal, content-driven, pragmatic, and innovative. Bol believes in autonomous teams, celebrating success together, and data-driven pioneering. Our strength? Collaborating as equals and continuously improving one another. Alone you can go far, but together with your colleagues, you’ll go further!
