Company DescriptionCollege of Law New Zealand (COLNZ) is a provider of the Professional Legal Studies Course (Profs), a post-graduate practical legal training course required for admission as a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.Our programmes are developed and delivered by legal professionals who understand what it takes to succeed in practice. We focus on producing career-ready lawyers through flexible, industry-relevant legal training.Role DescriptionAs an Adjunct Profs Instructor, you will join a collaborative academic team to contribute to the teaching and mentoring of students enrolled in the Profs course.A day in the life of a Profs instructor may include:delivering interactive workshops (online or in an onsite classroom)assessing student performanceproviding written or oral feedback, andproviding mentoring support to students.This role is a casual, contractor role, designed to fit alongside work and other life committments. Instructor work is allocated based on your availability and capacity, however there is a minimum commitment expectation of 15 hours per month (average). Due to the nature of the work, this will be in allocated in set dates and time ranges, and will need to meet student and administrative deadlines.The College offers a range of Profs course options, including evening options. Due to the nature of the role, work is available both during and outside of standard business hours.What you'll bring:New Zealand law degree (LLB), or qualifications from a similar legal jurisdictionMinimum 4 years PQEA strong interest and aptitude for teachingExcellent communication, both written and oralConfidence in the use of technology, particuarly the Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Teams, and video conferencing platformsPreferredExperience as a litigator, particularly in the areas of Civil Litigation, Family law or Criminal lawAuckland based, with the ability to teach onsite workshops in the Auckland CBDIf this sounds like the opportunity you've been waiting for, or you'd like to know more, please get in touch and share your CV for a confidential conversation (jash@collaw.ac.nz).
