Department SummaryThe Program for Language Equity in the Department of Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital aims to advance language equity in research, clinical care, and medical education by transforming research and health care delivery to include and prioritize individuals who use languages other than English (LOE). A core guiding principle of the program is that language should be a strength, not a barrier, and that empowering communities through linguistic inclusion can lead to higher quality, safer, and more equitable care for all. The Program is led by Director Dr. Alisa Khan, MD, MPH and Associate Director Dr. Bianca Quiñones-Pérez, MD.As the Program for Language Equity Manager, you will develop and implement program plans, scheduling and budgets, identify and manage the development of new programs and projects, and monitor the performance of programs and recommend changes.Key ResponsibilitiesManage all program operations, including preparing budget proposals and recommendations. Establish a budget control system for controlling expenditures, in accordance with budget allocations and recommend equipment and resources for the program. Assist in obtaining additional program grant and philanthropic funding.Oversee and manage project scope and timeline through formal change management processes across the PLE’s clinical operations, advocacy, and education arms to ensure deliverables are met in a timely fashion. May manage project issues and risks through standard issue/risk process. May hire, select, train, evaluate, and manage unit or department staff for effectiveness and efficiency.Implement appropriate procedures to ensure efficiency and accuracy to fulfill the unit or department and campus mission, helping the program grow locally and nationally.Manage the development of internal systems and materials for delivery of programs and services.Provide technical advice, policy interpretation, and guidance for the application of appropriate procedures to staff, students, and administrators.Develop and facilitate or oversee the development and facilitation of workshops, seminars, and orientations.Develop information flyers, internal forms, and various materials to facilitate unit or department programs and services. Promote communication and dissemination of program activities through program website and social media. Interact and maintain liaison with staff, faculty, and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives.EducationMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.Master’s degree preferred.Experience:4 years of relevant experienceQuality Improvement experience preferredProficiency in a language other than English preferredAbility to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations.Ability to work with diverse internal and external constituenciesBoston Children’s Hospital offers competitive compensation and unmatched benefits including flexible schedules, affordable health, vision and dental insurance, child care and student loan subsidies, generous levels of time off, 403(b) Retirement Savings plan, Pension, Tuition and certain License and Certification Reimbursement, cell phone plan discounts and discounted rates on T-passes.
