Programmes Officer (Disability Rights and Advocacy):The Disability Rights and Advocacy Programme Manager will support She Writes Woman Mental Health Initiative’s (SWW) advocacy and inclusion programmes, ensuring effective engagement with policymakers, stakeholders, and the public to advance mental health and disability rights in Nigeria.This role requires a development professional preferably a person with a disability and with strong experience working on disability inclusion who possesses strong programme management, grant writing, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) skills, and is passionate about driving policy change and amplifying the voices of persons with lived experience. A strong human rights activist, our ideal candidate must be passionate about mental health and should have experience working in the development sector.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Disability Studies, Law, Programme Management, Public Health, Social Work, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years’ experience in advocacy, disability inclusion, policy engagement, or NGO programme management.Demonstrated experience in grant writing, fundraising, and donor reporting.Proven expertise in monitoring and evaluation (M&E), including data collection, analysis, and impact measurement.Strong understanding of disability rights frameworks, including the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD), African Disability Protocol (ADP), and related human rights instruments.Lived experience of disability or demonstrable experience working directly with persons with disabilities is required.Solid knowledge of mental health and disability policies, human rights frameworks, and legislative processes in Nigeria.Excellent communication, public speaking, and stakeholder engagement skills.Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, and Slides) or equivalent tools.Strong analytical and report writing abilities.Nice-to-Have:Master’s degree in Public Policy, Human Rights, Disability Studies, or a related field.Experience working with international NGOs or donor-funded disability inclusion projects.Prior involvement in inclusive programme design, grant management, and M&E systems development.Responsibilities:Programme Development & Management: Lead end-to-end management of disability inclusion programmes, including design, implementation, monitoring, and impact assessment.Grant Writing & Resource Mobilisation: Develop compelling proposals, concept notes, and funding reports to secure resources for disability and mental health advocacy initiatives.Policy & Legislative Advocacy: Design and implement advocacy strategies to influence disability and mental health-related policies and legislation.Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, organisations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), civil society organisations, and advocacy partners.Public Awareness Campaigns: Coordinate advocacy events, campaigns, and media engagements to promote disability inclusion and mental health awareness.Research & Policy Analysis: Conduct research on disability and mental health policies, legal frameworks, and advocacy trends to inform SWW’s initiatives.Community Mobilisation: Work with grassroots organisations, disability groups, and communities to amplify the voices of persons with lived experience.Monitoring & Evaluation: Design and implement M&E frameworks and tools to measure programme effectiveness, outcomes, and alignment with SWW’s strategic goals.Reporting: Produce periodic progress, financial, and impact reports for internal and donor accountability.Conduct qualitative and quantitative research, and document pressing/timely issues on disability rights especially the issues of people with psychosocial disabilitiesAnalyse and creatively critique news, trending topics and systemic advancements or regressions in line with local laws, Nigeria’s international human rights commitments and the impact on our advocacy using social/digital media Cultivate and maintain relationships with government officials, legislators, partners and allies Mobilise and train project stakeholders on strategic advocacy using the UN CRPD and other international development resources and human rights laws/conventionsDocument project through internal processes and procedures and external correspondence via press and media relations Minimum Years of Experience: 5 years Location: Abuja, FCTHow to Apply: Send your CV and cover letter to hello@shewriteswoman.org with the role you’re applying to as the subject title.
