Job DescriptionPRODUCTION DESIGN ENGINEER – HEAVY ENGINEERINGSHEFFIELDCOMPETITIVE SALARY Progress Rail is looking to recruit a talented Production Design Engineer to support the manufacturing of our Cast Manganese Products. In this role, you’ll be responsible for creating detailed casting drawings, work sketches, routing instructions, and Bills of Material (BOMs) to ensure efficient and accurate production. You’ll play a key part in enabling the Track Products team to deliver high-quality components through precise and production-ready designs. THE ROLE: As a Production Design Engineer you will be required to:

Process jobs in a timely and accurate manner to maximise production throughput and efficiencyImprove existing products, processes and design tools and raise with line managerCompare alternative solutions of the product or process with line managerProduce designs for pattern production working with Pattern, Methoding and Machining teams to ensure compliance with best practiceEnsure a senior Engineer is consulted and informed regarding all emerging risks and opportunities relating to safety, programme, products or projectsProvide high quality, accurate work to established drawing, technical or engineering standardsUse and assist in the development of emerging design tools and softwareConsider product behaviour, manufacturability and maintainability issues throughout the design processProvide support to manufacturing operations to aid engineering compliance issues arising through NCRs or process changeApply a solid understanding of Track Products processes and capabilities to ensure all drawings and supporting documentation align with operational requirementsTHE CANDIDATE:

The ideal Production Design Engineer: A minimum of HNC or equivalent in mechanical or production engineeringIn depth understanding of technical drawingsUnderstanding of importance of procedures and processesGood knowledge of technical standards, codes and specificationsPrevious use of AutoCAD or NX beneficialExcellent communication skillsStrong IT skillsBENEFITS:
