Job Description

Type: Permanent, Full-TimeLocation: North York - Hybrid (onsite for training, then 3 days at the office)We are excited to partner with a Toronto-based engineering consulting firm to hire a Project Accountant to join their team. This role reports to the Controller and is pivotal in overseeing multiple projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, billing, cash collection, and reporting.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide project updates to the Controller on a monthly basis or as issues arise, offering insights into the financial health of projects.Prepare client invoices in line with company procedures, client requirements, and contractual terms.Monitor invoice aging and manage cash collections.Track accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments as necessary.Maintain project setups in the company's project management system, ensuring accurate coding and compliance.Engage extensively with project teams, clients, and sub-consultants to ensure the financial health of projects.Identify and resolve potential project and accounting issues on a monthly basis.Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and contractual obligations.Support project audits and respond to external audit requests.QualificationsDiploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.3+ years of experience in project accounting, preferably within engineering, architecture, or construction sectors.Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint is required.Strong understanding of revenue recognition, cost control, and budget monitoring.CPA designation (or in progress) is an asset.Proficient in Excel.Perks & BenefitsHybrid work model.Paid sick time.Half-day Fridays throughout the year.Health insurance with 100% premiums paid by the company.Wellness and fitness reimbursement.Professional membership and formal education reimbursement (for applicable roles).Career development and professional development sessions (count towards CPD).Referral bonus program.Office amenities: free access to an on-site gym, EV charging stations, café lounge.Monthly pizza/BBQ lunches and ice cream days during summer.A multi-faith room is available in the office.Modern, dynamic, and vibrant workspace.Presto card for work-related travel (client meetings or site visits).Annual social retreats include a family ski day, a golf tournament, and a holiday party.Monthly social events include skating, bowling, paintball, volunteering initiatives, fitness challenges, ping-pong tournaments, sports events, and more.
