Duration: PermanentReporting to: Head of Operations and DevelopmentLocation: Limpopo National Park (Mozambique)BACKGROUNDPeace Parks Foundation is a non-profit conservation organisation that specialises in conservation at scale through the development of transfrontier conservation areas and the long-term management of key protected areas in partnership with government conservation agencies and communities within these landscapes. We currently focus on the development of five priority transboundary landscapes measuring over 65 million hectares throughout southern Africa and the co-management of ten national parks and protected areas covering over 5. 2 million hectares.

JOB PROFILEYou have experience in field-based operational and project management, with a passion for conservation and environmental sustainability. You have strong administrative skills, are highly organised and detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure in a remote, field-based environment. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that park management, development projects and key operational programmes across conservation areas are effectively planned, executed and completed. This includes all sectors of conservation, community and support services, such as infrastructure and law enforcement.

The role will facilitate communication between stakeholders, assist with financial and procurement processes, and ensure skills transfer and mentoring of park personnel. Job PurposeThe incumbent will help the organisation in planning, executing and finalising projects in Limpopo National Park according to strict deadlines and within the stipulated budget.

This includes co-ordinating the efforts of the various stakeholders and teams to ensure the efficient and effective achievement of project objectives. The Project Co-ordinator will also be responsible for monitoring progress, identifying and mitigating risks and ensuring compliance with the organisation's policies. In addition, they will be key to ongoing communication between partners, funders and other stakeholders, ensuring that project activities are aligned with the organisation's strategic objectives. Duties And ResponsibilitiesSpecific key performance areas will include: Undertake full project management responsibilities of selected park projects, programmes and donor programmes.

Project and park management support to the Park Warden and Head of Operations and Development. Depending on the candidate's area of expertise, potentially take the lead in the project management oversight of selected park departments (e. g. infrastructure, tourism, community, public relations, etc. ). Support the development and monitoring of annual park work plans and budgets, as well as the development of project task plans. Ensure preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual progress reports for submission to the Government of Mozambique (ANAC), Steering Committee, TFCA Technical Committee, SADC and various donor agencies. Support and manage key procurement and tender processes.

Support the development of funding proposals and provision of public relations materials and information. Support the establishment and management of the park’s Reporting, Monitoring and Evaluation systems. Support all projects associated with Limpopo National Park (e. g. Herding for Health, One Limpopo One Health, etc. ). Minimum RequirementsAt least five years’ experience in field-based project management or operations management, with a demonstrated capacity for good organisation, management and leadership. Passion for conservation is critical. Capacity and interest in working in the field, and back this up with necessary reporting and computer literacy capacities.

A relevant qualification that demonstrates the candidate’s capacity for management of operations, projects and processes, with a preference towards conservation, project and field -based sectors. Good English language skills (written and verbal), while a working knowledge of and/or ability to speak Portuguese/Shangaan will be highly advantageous. Experience in the management, planning and development of conservation areas or conservation projects, with specific understanding and/or experience in community engagement and infrastructure programmes will be highly advantageous. Proven experience in managing large donor-funded projects will be a distinct advantage.

Ability and willingness to live in remote conditions is a prerequisite. Pilot’s licence for a Savannah aircraft will be an advantage. AdditionalThe Project Co-ordinator is expected to have proven and strong project management and administrative skills. The Project Coordinator is expected to be an achiever who has already made a mark in the conservation or business management arena of southern Africa, and is expected to be a dynamic and innovative manager with good organising, project management and leadership skills.
