Job Description

Project Developer – Renewables Location: Brisbane (with travel to project sites as required) Employment Type: Full-time, PermanentReporting to the Head of Origination, this role contributes to the origination and early-stage development of renewable energy projects (wind, solar PV and battery storage) by providing support in site identification, screening, land access agreements, grid connection solutions and early-stage planning processes. Community and stakeholder engagement is a key element to this role, as is the ability to build a robust business case for greenfield prospect sites.This is an excellent opportunity for a renewable energy professional who is keen to learn and grow, with 2+ years of experience. You will be joining a fast-growing renewable energy developer that is committed to delivering utility-scale renewable energy projects, supporting industrial decarbonisation, and achieving long-term positive impacts for local communities.Key AccountabilitiesWork predominantly with the Head of Origination and assist the Head of Development to progress projects from site identification through to feasibility and planning studies.Support members of the technical team to develop layouts throughout the development process, including supply and management of relevant technical information and reporting.Assist with landowner consultation, negotiation of agreements, legal dealings and correspondence as required.Support the management of external consultants undertaking studies throughout the development process.Support stakeholder consultation processes with local and state planning authorities, regulators, the general public, landowners and other stakeholders.Contribute to the production of Environmental Impact Statement documents, EPBC referrals and other statutory applications required for project development.Provide on-ground support for project requirements across environmental approvals, stakeholder engagement and land access functions.Collaborate with members of the technical team to support the electrical grid connection process.Provide continued support to projects during pre-construction as required.Work effectively across multidisciplinary teams to understand project requirements and objectives.ExperienceA minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience as a project developer, project officer or consultant within a related field such as land and approvals, commercial, stakeholder engagement, environmental and planning, or project engineering.EducationTertiary qualification in Renewable Energy, Planning, Environment, Geography, Business, Law, Engineering or a related discipline.Current driver’s licence.EssentialsKeen interest in renewable energy.Willingness and flexibility to travel to project sites.Strong communication and written skills.Analytical, research and problem-solving capabilities.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Experience in GIS and/or other graphical software is beneficial.Ability to maintain effective and collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.Project management skills including budgeting, scheduling and scoping.Personal AttributesHigh level of passion for renewable energy and community development.Willingness to learn and attempt new tasks.Strong self-motivation and organisational skills.Ability to remain agile and resilient when managing diverse workloads with multiple priorities, while delivering work to a high standard and on time.
