Project Director / Business Unit Director - Data Centers

The business is expanding rapidly across the data centre and mission-critical infrastructure sector in Southeast Asia, driving innovation and sustainable growth through advanced engineering and EPC project delivery.Role OverviewWe are seeking an accomplished Project Director / Subject Matter Expert (Data Centre) to lead both business growth and project delivery across Southeast Asia. This dual-function role combines strategic business development with hands-on leadership of major EPC data centre projects.The successful candidate will oversee full project lifecycles, provide technical expertise in data centre design and construction, and help shape the company's market position within the mission-critical infrastructure space. The role is based in Singapore, with project execution teams supported from other regional offices.Responsibilities:Business Development & Strategy * Drive the development and expansion of the company's Data Centre EPC business across Southeast Asia, with an initial focus on Thailand and neighboring markets. * Leverage existing client and industry relationships to identify and secure new project opportunities. * Define and implement strategic growth plans aligned with broader regional objectives. * Support proposal development, contract negotiation, and project acquisition efforts.Project Leadership & Delivery * Oversee end-to-end delivery of Data Centre EPC projects, from concept and FEED through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. * Ensure performance against schedule, cost, and quality targets. * Align engineering, procurement, and construction functions for efficient and integrated execution. * Apply best practices in modular design, sustainability, and uptime reliability.Technical Expertise (SME Function) * Serve as the internal Subject Matter Expert on Data Centre project delivery. * Provide leadership on MEP, power, cooling, redundancy, and Tier-standard design principles. * Review engineering deliverables to ensure constructability and technical integrity. * Support the development of internal standards and technical capability within the Data Centre team.Stakeholder & Client Engagement * Act as senior representative to clients, consultants, and partners throughout all project phases. * Develop and maintain relationships with key accounts, including hyperscalers, developers, and operators. * Represent the company at industry events and forums in the Data Centre and mission-critical infrastructure sectors.Requirements:* 15+ years of experience in EPC or design consultancy for Data Centre projects. * Proven success delivering large-scale or greenfield industrial projects. * Strong technical knowledge of MEP systems, power distribution, cooling, and Tier-standard infrastructure. * Regional experience in Southeast Asia * Experience managing complex contracts and multidisciplinary teams across multiple geographies. * Strong business development and client management skills. * Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil); Master's preferred. * Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-cultural management abilities. * Experience working with Japanese organizations or projects advantageous.
