About the Role We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Project Engineer with 3–5 years of experience in building services design to join our Engineering Studio — a collaborative pool of engineers supporting multiple projects across the business. The Engineering Studio sits at the heart of our technical delivery, providing expertise across data centres, industrial, energy, pharmaceutical, and commercial sectors.As a Project Engineer, you’ll play a key technical role in the design, coordination, and delivery of mechanical building systems. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you’ll contribute to the design and development of innovative, sustainable solutions while gaining exposure to diverse and fast-paced projects. This is a hybrid role based in Ireland (3 days in the office).Candidate Attributes· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.· 3–5 years’ experience in mechanical building services design, ideally within a consultancy environment.· Exposure to at least one of the following sectors: data centres, industrial, energy, pharmaceutical, or commercial buildings.· Working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.· Demonstrated experience in technical coordination, documentation, and project delivery.· Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Bluebeam; familiar with BIM coordination processes.· Competent in mechanical design software such as Hevacomp, IES, HAP, or similar for load and energy modelling.· Understanding of Irish Building Regulations, CIBSE Guides, ASHRAE, and BS/EN standards for mechanical systems.· Experience in preparing technical specifications, reports, and detailed HVAC and piping drawings.· Awareness of energy-efficient technologies, low-carbon design, and sustainable MEP solutions.Day-to-day Activities· Deliver defined mechanical design packages under the supervision of Senior Engineers or Project Leads.· Support the design of HVAC, chilled water, domestic water, drainage, and fire protection systems from concept through detailed design and construction documentation.· Perform heating/cooling load calculations, duct and pipe sizing, equipment selection, and energy analysis using appropriate tools.· Assist in preparing schematics, layouts, and detailed drawings for mechanical systems.· Contribute to the development of tender documentation, specifications, and technical reports.· Ensure all designs meet CIBSE, ASHRAE, BS, IS, and EN standards, as well as client and project-specific requirements.· Participate in QA/QC reviews, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with internal standards.· Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to address technical queries and coordinate site interfaces.· Collaborate closely with electrical, structural, and sustainability teams to deliver coordinated multidisciplinary designs.· Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure all deliverables meet agreed deadlines and quality benchmarks.· Support internal coordination meetings, share learnings across the Engineering Studio, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.· Take ownership of smaller system packages (e.g., ventilation, domestic water, or controls), with mentoring from senior engineers.Why Join Us?At Ethos, we’re committed to creating a workplace that supports both professional excellence and personal wellbeing.
