Location: Cambridge, ONDuration: Contract through December 2026 (potential for extension)About the RoleWe’re looking for a highly motivated Engineer to join our automotive OEM client on a new model weld project team in Cambridge. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment, working directly on the production floor with cross-functional teams.You’ll play a key role in supporting equipment installations, trials, and change points, ensuring all projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Strong communication, adaptability, and a proactive, floor-based approach are essential to succeed in this position.Key ResponsibilitiesAct as a project lead on the floor, working closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams.Manage zone PFS from trial builds and coordinate weekend work related to equipment change points.Oversee project management for sourced equipment such as lift assists, installation jigs, and backup jigs.Maintain schedules, manage costs, and ensure alignment with project timelines.Prepare equipment specification documents for the bid process.Collaborate with vendors on design, digital reviews, installation, commissioning, and issue resolution.Conduct equipment buyoffs, checklists, risk assessments, and Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PSRs).Support weekend or shift work as needed to align with production and installation schedules.QualificationsDegree or diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience).Proven experience in automotive or fast-paced manufacturing environments.Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities on the floor.Excellent communication and collaboration skills across departments and levels.Weld shop or assembly experience is an asset but not required.Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules, including occasional weekend or shift work.This is a great opportunity for an engineering professional who enjoys hands-on work, solving problems in real time, and keeping projects moving at production speed.
