Learn more about us at www.cmh.org.Salary Range: $48.71 - $57.99 Position Summary The Project Manager, Planning is accountable for leading planning initiatives that support the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered care within an acute care hospital environment. This includes responsibility for strategic master planning, space utilization, and the planning phases of critical capital and redevelopment projects. The role ensures that clinical requirements, patient safety, and hospital operations are fully integrated into planning outcomes while aligning with hospital strategy, Ministry of Health standards, and accreditation requirements. The Project Manager will be a member of the Corporate Project Management Office. Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic & Master Planning Lead the development and maintenance of the hospital’s Master Program, Master Plan, incorporating clinical priorities, capacity planning, and long-term growth strategies.Support the organization’s strategic goals by integrating patient flow, service expansion, and evolving models of care into planning frameworks.Ensure alignment with Ministry of Health capital planning processes and broader system-wide strategies. Project Planning & Capital ReadinessManage the planning phase of capital projects (major renovations, expansions, and new builds), ensuring clear scope, budget, and schedule development. .Prepare procurement documentation in collaboration with CMH’s Purchasing and Facilities Construction team members Coordinate feasibility studies, functional program development, and option analyses to guide decision-making.Development project documentation to support CMH’s Ministry Applications for Capital Construction Projects Prepare business cases, project charters, and planning documentation for hospital leadership and external approvals. Space Planning & UtilizationOversee space-planning initiatives to optimize patient care environments, staff workflow, and operational efficiency.Conduct occupancy studies and utilization assessments to balance clinical, administrative, and support service needs.Collaborate with infection prevention, occupational health, and clinical teams to ensure that design and space decisions meet hospital safety and regulatory standards.Ensure CMH’s use of its facilities aligns with its Master Program and Master Plan Stakeholder & Clinical Engagement Facilitate engagement with clinicians, staff, patients, and families to ensure planning reflects patient-centered care principles.Lead consultations and workshops to integrate operational realities and best practices into planning decisions.Serve as a liaison between internal stakeholders, consultants, Ministry representatives, and external partners. Governance, Compliance & ReportingEnsure compliance with healthcare regulatory requirements, including CSA standards, building codes, accessibility legislation, and infection prevention guidelines.Provide transparent reporting and recommendations to executive leadership, planning committees, and the Board.Monitor planning deliverables and track project readiness against approved timelines and milestones. QualificationsBachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, planning, health administration, or related field5–7 years’ experience in project management or planning, with direct experience in an acute care or healthcare environment strongly preferred.Knowledge of the capital planning lifecycle in healthcare and familiarity with Ministry of Health planning and submission requirements.Proven ability to integrate clinical workflows, infection prevention requirements, and patient safety considerations into planning.Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse clinical and non-clinical teams.Experienced in representing an organization through the design stages of a construction project, corresponding with Consultants, Designers, and Engineers and contractors Experience with BPS procurement directive is preferable Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively through role-related softwareDemonstrated ability to read, interpret and navigate drawings and specifications PMP designation or equivalent project management certification is considered an asset.FMP designation or equivalent project management certification is considered an asset.
