Project Manager – Distribution Utility ConstructionLocation: Greater Atlanta, GA (In-Office with 1 Day/Week WFH)Industry Focus: Overhead & Underground DistributionPrimary Client: Georgia PowerCompensation: Up to $160,000 base salary + perks (including Unlimited PTO)Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee and execute distribution utility construction projects, with a primary focus on supporting programs and initiatives for Georgia Power. This role manages day-to-day project delivery—including scheduling, budgeting, contractor oversight, and client coordination—for both overhead and underground distribution work.While a background in transmission or substation projects is not required, it is considered beneficial. This position is primarily in-office in the Greater Atlanta area, with flexibility for one work-from-home day per week.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Execution & LeadershipManage the full lifecycle of distribution utility construction projects, including planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout.Oversee field operations, subcontractors, and internal crews to ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence.Coordinate design reviews, material needs, permits, and work sequencing for efficient project delivery.Client & Stakeholder CoordinationServe as the primary project interface for Georgia Power, ensuring alignment with client standards, expectations, and communication processes.Lead progress meetings, provide status updates, and maintain strong client relationships.Work cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, safety, and field leadership.Financial & Contract ManagementDevelop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.Prepare and review change orders, invoices, and documentation required by Georgia Power or other utility clients.Track resource allocation and implement strategies to maintain project profitability.Documentation & ComplianceEnsure all work follows utility standards, construction guidelines, and regulatory requirements.Maintain accurate project records—including schedules, reports, safety documentation, and as-built data.Support internal and external audits, quality checks, and safety initiatives.Continuous ImprovementIdentify and implement process improvements to streamline distribution construction operations.Work with leadership to optimize project delivery methods, field efficiency, and client satisfaction.Contribute to team development, mentoring assistant PMs or coordinators as needed.Qualifications & ExperienceRequired5+ years of project management experience in distribution utility construction (overhead, underground, or both).Strong understanding of utility construction practices, work methods, and project sequencing.Experience managing crews, subcontractors, and field operations.Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and client expectations.Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.Ability to work primarily from the office in the Atlanta area with occasional travel to job sites.PreferredPrior experience working with or for Georgia Power or another Southeastern IOU.Familiarity with distribution design, make-ready work, storm response operations, or utility program management.Background in transmission or substation construction (not required but advantageous).Proficiency with project management software, scheduling tools, and utility construction documentation systems.Compensation & PerksBase Salary: Up to $160,000, commensurate with experience.Unlimited PTO (subject to company guidelines).Health, dental, vision, 401(k), and additional benefits.One designated WFH day per week.Professional development support, certifications, and training opportunities.About the OpportunityThis role offers the chance to lead impactful distribution construction projects and work closely with one of the region’s premier utilities, Georgia Power.
