Join Nelson City Council's Capital Projects team and play a pivotal role in shaping the city's future through sustainable, high-quality infrastructure.About the role | Kō tēnei tūranga mahiAs a Project Manager, you'll lead the design, procurement, and construction of a variety of council projects — ensuring they're delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards. You'll be part of a collaborative team that values professionalism, innovation, and continuous improvement.Your day will involve:Leading the planning, design, procurement, and delivery of council infrastructure and capital projectsEnsure projects are completed on time, within budget, to scope, and to required quality standardsManage consultants and contractors, including contract documentation, performance, and complianceBuild and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders — including community groups, iwi, contractors, and internal teamsIdentify opportunities to improve project and organisational efficiencySupport Council's health and safety culture by leading site safety audits and promoting safe practices About you | Ko ngā pūmanawa ōProven experience in project management, ideally in the civil infrastructure or capital works spaceStrong understanding of NZS 3910:2013 and how to manage commercial contracts effectivelyA solid grasp of project management methodologies and reporting practicesExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skillsThe ability to juggle competing priorities and make sound, timely decisionsA collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous improvementA Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification is required, with additional project management qualifications (such as PMP or Prince II Practitioner) highly regardedWhat we offer | Ko ngā painga mōuYou'll be joining a team that's passionate about building a better Nelson - a city known for its innovation, lifestyle, and community spirit.
