Overview: MacTaggart Scott is looking for a Project Manager to take the lead on managing new and ongoing contracts within our Projects team. In this role, you'll work independently to keep projects on track, handling everything from scheduling and budgeting to managing risks and contract details. You'll report to the Senior Project Manager and play a key role in building strong relationships with customers, working closely with other teams to solve any challenges, and keeping project information up to date. You'll also help support the growth of the business by identifying opportunities for new work or contract changes. Success in this role means meeting financial goals, managing risks effectively, sticking to schedules, and delivering great results for our customers.About us:MacTaggart Scott primarily supports the Naval Defence industry, providing complete solutions to customer needs from analysis of initial customer requirements, to design and manufacture, and right through to commissioning and through life support. Established in 1898, we are proud of our history and tradition but believe that sustainable competitive advantage can only be achieved through continuous improvement, investment, and a commitment to business excellence at every level within the company.RequirementsKey Responsibilities will include:Schedule managementFinancial managementChange managementRisk managementScope and contractual requirement managementProject reviewsManage Customer relationships and communication Contract variationsCustomer visits and meetingsCustomer ReportingEnsure that their project(s) are progressing in accordance with the agreed planEnsure that project information is updated and currentLiaising with other departments within MacTaggart Scott to resolve any conflicts or issues to schedule, cost or resourcesManaging and reporting on the financial performance of all allocated projects (including risk and opportunities management). Ensure that invoices are raised in accordance with the agreed contractual conditions Generate new business, or variations to current contractsEssential Requirements:Ability to use Microsoft word packages for the preparation of reports. Good Communication skillsAbility to work unaided and on own initiativeGood negotiatorCommercially awareHold or be able to meet the MOD security requirementsBe able to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through application of analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesHave the ability to persuade and influence people in order to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sourcesBe able to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environmentHave experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environmentAbility to manage othersCity and Guilds , Scotvec, Degree or equivalent academic qualificationExperience of managing projectsThe successful candidate must hold or be able to meet the appropriate Security Clearance as required.Desirable Requirements:Have experience of working in defense and commercial industry. Ideally have experience of working with an ERP/MRP, or equivalent, systemHave experience of engineering / manufacturing industry.
