This opportunity is in the Regulation and Operational Support Group, Strategic Support and Engagement Divisions First Nations Engagement Team. You will work collaboratively across the state on policies and approaches. You will undertake a lead role in developing relationships with First Nations peoples across Queensland improving the ability for the department to effectively engage with First Nations peoples to ensure that their interests are included in water planning and management activities.TARGETED VACANCY. You will undertake a lead role in developing relationships with First Nations peoples across Queensland improving the ability for the department to effectively engage with First Nations peoples to ensure that their interests are included in water planning and management activities. Key to the role is building strong relationships with First Nations peoples and other water user representatives, community groups, as well as across the department, state agencies and with other jurisdictions.Key Accountabilities Undertake research and analysis to support development of policy and strategy to inform best practice stewardship of the state's finite resources. Provide quality written contributions to support the preparation of complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, legislation, presentations, speeches, publications, and correspondence. Prepare timely, and authoritative advice on a range of strategic policy and regulatory issues and identify mechanisms for improvement to optimise sustainable outcomes. Support the implementation of communication strategies by preparing communication aids including information sheets, PowerPoint presentations and other material as required. Exercise judgement to effectively manage competing priorities. Provide quality assurance for all correspondence and documents including editing and proof-reading documents and identifying errors and/or potential inconsistencies. Operate in a highly sensitive, commercially confidential environment having regard to probity, commercial and legal implications of any decisions made.About You This is a targeted position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates. Knowledge of and experience in engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples is highly desirable. Experience or qualifications in watermanagement, communication or engagement disciplines would be advantageous. A track record of managing stakeholder engagement for complex policy-related projects and delivering strategic communication services and products.
