Property Paralegal (Transactions)Role: Permanent Full-TimeSalary: Competitive + Bonus + BenefitsLocation: LondonWFH: Hybrid Working ModelReporting to: Head of LegalDirect Reports: N/AJob Purpose:The role is based within the property transactions team within the legal department, dealing with a broad spectrum of non-contentious matters, focusing primarily on residential-based transactions.The ideal candidate will have previous property experience and be comfortable managing their own portfolio of cases in a fast-paced environment.Key Accountabilities:Managing a caseload of transactions from instruction through to completion, liaising with internal clients and stakeholders, leaseholders, solicitors, local authorities and other third parties to include drafting and negotiating lease extensions, new leases, transfers, auction sales, easements, together with a variety of other deeds and licencesDealing with pre-emption rights, land registry applications, adverse possession claims and unregistered titlesPerforming legal due diligence on matters such as the interpretation of leases, deeds and other property title documents, together with analysing title structuresDealing with queries and legal title or acquisition enquiriesWorking on projects as and when requiredUpdating and checking property management system data, updating other departments where necessary and responding to external third parties as appropriate when queries and enquiries are referred by other members of staffLegal research using online practice resources, in-house library or otherwiseSkills and knowledge:EssentialLaw Graduate, or equivalent academic/professional qualificationsAt least 1-2 years of relevant paralegal work experience in a similar roleExperience in property law and/ or residential conveyancingA good understanding of conveyancing procedures and applicable property law, and the ability to understand and explain legal technicalities and processesAbility to draft various clauses and documents, and the ability to appreciate the implicationsA high degree of integrity and reliabilityAbility to manage own caseload efficientlyProven ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, good organisational skills, and ability to work within a teamDesirableAn understanding of statutory lease extensions and collective enfranchisement claimsPrevious in-house experience, especially within the property industryExperience in property acquisitions and property-related financeInterest in legal property-related research and a desire to acquire new skills
