Prototype Stamping Technician

DEPARTMENT: Forming and BendingSUPERVISED BY: Forming and Bending ManagerTechnique, Inc. is a Michigan-based stamping, tubing and welding facility offering the shortest lead-times and highest quality parts in the industry. The company is dedicated to the success of each team member in a culture that values safety, integrity, teamwork, learning opportunities and results.Position Summary:This position is responsible for developing prototype parts in hydraulic presses. The technician will set up hydraulic presses and troubleshoot quality issues to make complex parts to internal and customer specifications.Essential Job Functions:Set up, maintain, troubleshoot, and operate hydraulic deep draw pressesComplete all job documentationResolve issues with part quality – thinning, cracking, gougingSet and modify dies and set up blank nestsUse precision measuring tools to check parts against blueprintsDevelop parts with various stamping techniques – crash forming, extrusion, multistep draws, preforming, ectUse multistep draws and preforms, size them appropriately and adjust drawing processes to alleviate cracks and thinningSet up swipes, tweak parts, change draw nests, guide plates, and binder plates in AutoCadWork with other departments to make changes as necessary to prevent reworkQualifications:EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED, vocational trainingCREDENTIALS/LICENSURE: forklift operator’s license preferredMINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2-4 years experience in stamping and metal formingPosition Requirements (Skills & Abilities):Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environmentGood understanding of GD&T and blueprintsAbility to use CAD and SolidWorksAbility to use precision measurement toolsSolid communication and teamwork skillsTravelNo travel is required for this position.Other DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a complete comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Note: days and hours required may vary.Shifts include:Monday-Friday – 7:00am-3:30pmMonday-Thursday – 3:30pm-2:00am ($1.00 per hour shift premium)Friday, Saturday, Sunday – 5:00am-5:30pm ($2.00 per hour shift premium)Friday, Saturday, Sunday – 5:00pm-5:30am ($15.00 per hour shift premium)Environmental Expectations:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to manufacturing processes that include and are not limited to; fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, moving mechanical parts, industrial equipment, and vibration.
