Public Relations Consultant – Akin Agency (Canberra or Hybrid)Akin Agency is a Canberra-based communications and government relations firm working at the heart of Australia’s big conversations. We help clients tell their story, and build influence, whether that’s launching national campaigns, managing complex policy issues, or telling powerful stories that matter.We’re looking for a Public Relations Consultant with around 3–5 years’ experience who’s ready to take the next step, someone who can write fast, think strategically, and thrive on variety.What you’ll doWrite media releases, op-eds and stakeholder briefings that get traction.Build and maintain relationships with journalists, clients and partners.Contribute to campaign and communications strategy across sectors.Support senior consultants on issues management and proactive PR.Design and deliver events that bring together high-profile leaders and contribute to national conversations.Bring creative thinking and initiative to everything you do.Who you areYou’ve built a few years of solid experience in communications, media or public affairs, maybe in an agency, government, or corporate environment and you’re ready for more scope and ownership.You’ll bring:Strong writing and storytelling skills.Experience with media relations and corporate or public-sector comms.A proactive approach and ability to manage competing priorities.Curiosity about how influence works, from Parliament to the press gallery.A degree in Communications, PR, Journalism or a related field.Experience in government or public-policy-adjacent work is a bonus, but not essential.For more information please contact Adelaide Haynes, adelaide@akinagency.com.au
