Job Description

The Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring all materials, hardware, and services required for custom millwork and cabinetry project.This position works closely with project managers, engineering, estimating managers, and production teams to maintain efficient material flow. Key Responsibilities1.     Material Procurement & Planning-         Source and purchase lumber, veneers, sheet goods, hardware, and ither millwork components.-         Review project drawings and cut lists to determine accurate material requirements.-         Coordinate purchase orders to align with production schedules and delivery timelines.-         Maintain appropriate inventory levels for commonly used items.2.     Supplier Management-         Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors.-         Obtain competitive quotes and negotiate pricing and delivery schedules.-         Evaluate supplier performance for quality, reliability, and responsiveness. -         Identify and qualify new suppliers to ensure cost-effective and high- quality sourcing.3.     Cost Control & Documentation-         Prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with company policy.-         Track orders and reconcile packing slips, and backorders-         Monitor material pricing to assist estimating management on project budgeting. 4.     Collaboration & Communication-         Work closely with project management, engineers, estimating managers, and shop teams to anticipate material needs.-         Communicate lead times, substitutions, or material delays proactively.-         Support project teams in value engineering and alternative product sourcing.-         Attend production meetings as required. Qualifications & Experience-         2-5 years’ experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in architectural millwork, cabinetry. -         Strong understanding of woodworking materials, hardware, and finishing products. -         Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.-         Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. -         Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.
