We have partnered with a leading global engineering and manufacturing organisation to recruit an experienced Purchasing Manager for their UK operations.Location: CheltenhamSalary & Benefits: Competitive package with opportunities for professional development.About the RoleThis is a pivotal leadership position within the procurement function, responsible for driving sourcing strategies, supplier performance, and operational excellence. The role involves managing a team of buyers and supplier development professionals, ensuring alignment with global supply chain objectives and delivering value through strategic purchasing initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and develop a high-performing purchasing team, fostering capability growth and accountability.Drive UK sourcing strategies aligned with global procurement goals, sustainability targets, and risk mitigation plans.Collaborate cross-functionally to support early engagement and improved procurement outcomes.Manage supplier relationships to ensure performance across Quality, Cost, Delivery, Innovation, and Sustainability.Oversee tendering, cost analysis, and value assessments to secure best value for money.Deliver year-on-year cost reductions and support continuous improvement initiatives.About You We’re looking for a proven purchasing leader with experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You’ll have:Strong background in procurement and supply chain management, including team leadership.Expertise in cost control, contract negotiation, and supplier management.Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.Knowledge of purchasing systems and manufacturing processes.Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office tools.DesirableProfessional qualifications (e.g., CIPS/MCIPS).Experience in supplier development, risk management, and quality tools.Exposure to international procurement and compliance standards.
