BRIEF DESCRIPTIONThe Purchasing manager is responsible for sourcing, negotiating with suppliers and the procurement of goods for the Company’s wholesale and retail operations. The postholder will be responsible for the Purchasing Function which includes people and budgetary management and working closely with the Commercial department for forecasting the needs of the business. Integral part of the senior management team. The postholder will be responsible for the management of purchasing activity by ensuring optimal supplier performance and price.
They will develop and implement a strategy to ensure that the function is adding value, mitigate supply chain risk and deliver cost savings. They will develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships and provide relevant supplier and management reports. KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESPurchasing and cost estimating activities across the business. Supplier selection/de-selection, evaluation and rationalization of supply chain solutions including vendor managed inventory and supplier consignments. Evaluating the challenges faced by the business and taking appropriate action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities. Contributing to overall business strategy and annual budget process.
Managing relationships and negotiating with key suppliers at a senior levelAssisting in negotiating contract terms with key suppliersPerforming margin analysis on regular basis to always ensure optimisation of marginsForecasting price, stock levels and market trends to identify changes in buyer/supplier activityProviding weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to key suppliersDeveloping and maintaining procedures to mitigate out-of-stock issuesCommunicating with management the impact of market change and potential effects on supply. Recommending solutions without compromising quality while optimising costPlacing orders and liaising with suppliers on orders.
Receiving orders on inventory systemWorking closely with Commercial department and performing accurate forecasting to maintain necessary stock levelsWorking closely with other Purchasing Managers and the wider finance and commercial teamsEnsuring strong communication between teams under leadership to facilitate information and to implement changes and improvementsSetting department objectives, including KPI’s and monitoring performancePreparing annual purchasing budgets and forecasts, including non-inventory purchases and capital expenditureWorking with Warehouse managers for physical stock levelsAssisting with routine inventory, stock counts and data entry. Utilizing technology to improve processes and efficienciesOther duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTSEducated to degree level in a relevant commercial disciplineMinimum of five (5) years’ proven experience in a similar role. Good understanding of supply chain procedures. Advanced knowledge of purchasing and ordering software and MS Excel. Demonstrable experience of leading a purchasing functionProven contract management and supplier experienceExcellent English written and oral communication skills. Strong time management and organizational skills.

Caymanians, Caymanian Status Holders, Permanent Residents, or RERC holders are preferred
