We help you discover meaningful work with teams that invest in your success, where you’re empowered to grow personally and professionally.Join one of the highest-rated workplaces on Glassdoor and experience what it means to thrive in a truly remote-first world.About the RoleWe’re looking for a QA Engineer to join a collaborative product team responsible for maintaining and improving a large-scale HR and Payroll platform. You’ll play a key role in ensuring product quality by owning test strategy, designing and executing comprehensive test plans, and working closely with developers and product teams to deliver stable, high-performing releases. This is a long-term opportunity for someone who takes pride in precision, structure, and technical curiosity — ensuring every release meets the highest standards of reliability.ResponsibilitiesTest Strategy & Planning – Define and own test strategy and system documentation; derive detailed test cases from user stories, acceptance criteria, and system architectureTesting Execution – Plan and execute functional, regression, exploratory, cross-browser, and mobile tests across the product suite, including web portals, APIs, and mobile applicationsAPI Testing – Conduct API validation and integration testing to ensure consistent and reliable backend communicationData Validation – Use SQL to verify data integrity and validate backend transactionsDefect Management – Log, triage, and track issues using GitHub (or equivalent tools), verify fixes, and contribute to release readinessCross-Team Collaboration – Work closely with developers, product managers, and UX designers to ensure quality throughout the development lifecycleContinuous Improvement – Contribute to automation opportunities, maintain test data, and help optimise QA processes within the podRequirements3+ years of professional experience in manual and functional testing across web and API layersProven hands-on experience with API testing tools and methodologies (e.g., Postman, Swagger, or similar)SQL (3+ years) – strong ability to query databases for test validation and data integrity checksExperience with test case design, regression testing, and defect lifecycle managementKnowledge of cross-browser testing and mobile validation for responsive applicationsSolid understanding of SDLC, Agile, and QA best practicesStrong communication, documentation, and analytical skills with a high attention to detailNice to HaveExposure to automated testing frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright)Experience working in agile, product-focused teamsFamiliarity with CI/CD integration and continuous testing pipelinesExperience testing integrations with collaboration tools (e.g., Teams or Zoom)At Smart Working, you’ll never be just another remote hire.Be a Smart Worker — valued, empowered, and part of a culture that celebrates integrity, excellence, and ambition.If that sounds like your kind of place, we’d love to hear your story.
