Quality Control Engineer

Watania Steel is looking for a talented and detail-oriented Quality Control Engineer to join our Quality Team. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in steel rolling mill quality control, with strong expertise in mechanical and metallurgical testing to ensure the highest standards of product excellence.Key Responsibilities:Inspect raw materials (billets) and rolled products (TMT rebars, wire rods) during and after production.Conduct mechanical testing including yield strength (YS), ultimate tensile strength (UTS), elongation (%EL), bend and re-bend tests, rebar rib geometry measurement, and wire rod coil size & ovality measurement.Monitor and maintain product quality throughout the rolling mill processes.Collect samples and coordinate with third-party laboratories for SASO and UK CARES certification testing.Collaborate closely with production and quality teams to ensure smooth workflow and consistent product quality.Address quality-related issues promptly and implement corrective actions.Maintain accurate documentation of inspection results and testing data using Microsoft Word and Excel.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.2 to 5 years of experience in quality control within the steel rolling mill industry.Strong knowledge of mechanical and metallurgical testing methods.Familiarity with SASO and UK CARES certification standards.Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, teamwork, and commitment to quality and safety.Professional certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or equivalent are preferred.English language proficiency (written and spoken)
