This role involves monitoring quality control processes, conducting inspections, and assisting in the implementation of quality management systems for residential and commercial building projects. The Quality Coordinator works closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and site personnel to maintain high-quality construction standards and support continuous improvement initiatives.Key Responsibilities:Quality Control/Assurance & Compliance:Assist in developing and maintaining quality management systems (QMS) for construction projects.Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, codes, and industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, OSHA, ANSI, ACI, ASME, MTO/MX Specification, City of Toronto Standards, CSA Standards, Tarion). Support internal and external audits, document findings, and implement corrective actions.Assist in reviewing and approving materials, methods, and workmanship to ensure they meet contract requirements.Ensure all materials, installation methods, and workmanship align with applicable standards and project’s specific quality expectations.Develop and maintain detailed Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) tailored to the project’s scope, incorporating applicable specifications, standards, and witness/hold points.Inspections & Testing:Conduct on-site inspections for structure, finishes, and building systems to verify conformance with project documents.Coordinate and oversee material and workmanship and testing (e.g., concrete, drywall, coatings, waterproofing, finishes) as required.Identify and document non-conformances, working with project teams to implement corrective and preventive measures.Maintain accurate inspection records, photographs, and quality documentation.Track material approvals and verify supplier compliance with submittals and shop drawings.Coordinate, monitor and keep record of third-party testing and inspections (e.g., materials, firestopping, window testing, HVAC balancing) ensuring they align with the project schedule and specifications.Process Improvement & Reporting:Analyze quality data and trends to recommend process improvements.Assist in conducting root cause analysis (RCA) and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).Prepare and submit quality reports, checklists, and compliance documentation.Maintain robust traceability for all inspections, test results, and approvals using structured logs and digital records.Training & Communication:Conduct training sessions for construction teams on quality standards, best practices, and safety procedures.Serve as a liaison between project management, contractors, and subcontractors for quality-related matters.Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement within construction teams.Communicate upcoming inspection and test milestones clearly to site teams to ensure readiness and avoid delays.Qualifications & Requirements:Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field (preferred).2+ years of experience in construction quality control, quality assurance, or site supervision.Skills & Competencies:Strong knowledge of building construction standards, materials, and codes (OBC, CSA, ASTM, ISO 9001, LEED).Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and civil drawings and specifications.Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with multiple stakeholders.Certifications (Preferred but Not Required): American Concrete Institute (ACI) Certification.CCIL Certified Laboratory Technician – Concrete, Aggregate, and Soils Testing.Work Environment:Primarily works on active building construction sites throughout the GTA with occasional office-based work.Requires the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).May involve travel between multiple projects within Ontario.What Amico Can Offer You:Competitive SalaryMedical, dental, and vision insuranceEmployer Matching Retirement ProgramLife insuranceAt Amico, we are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal opportunities are available to all applicants and teammates.
