The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is hiring a Quantitative Supervision Analyst.Please note that the deadline for applications is 20 November 2025 end of day.Please note that this is a 3 year fixed term contract.This role is based in Basel, Switzerland however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities and located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.Purpose Of The JobOur mission is to support central banks' pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international partnership and to act as a bank for central banks.You will contribute to this mission by collecting processing and analyzing financial and supervisory data to monitor global standards and to support policy discussions. You will conduct data compilation of various Quantitative Impact Studies (QIS) and contribute to QIS analysis by implementing and maintaining statistical reports and helping develop and apply the underlying methodologies. You will provide ad hoc support for statistical requests and support the requirement analysis and testing of new business applications.By joining the QIS Support Unit in MED IT, you will:Collect, process and analyse unique financial data to support the needs of various stakeholders at the Bank, keeping abreast of relevant international statistical methodological and technical developments.You will enjoy a team-oriented atmosphere and interact with internal and external stakeholders in a highly collaborative and diversified environment.You will be part of an international financial institution at the heart of the central banking community and help us achieve our global mission.Principal AccountabilitiesData collection and processingCollects and processes data from specific sources, including central banks and supervisory authorities, national statistical agencies, other international organisations and commercial and other private sector institutions.Database maintenanceMaintains statistical databases for internal and external users, including for Basel-based Committees; performs quality control of data stored in databases.Data analysis and communicationCarries out statistical and basic econometric analysis using appropriate techniques; responds to enquiries and requests from internal and external users; and provides them with information with respect to methodologies and documentation.Meeting and research supportPrepares publication-quality tables and graphs for BIS meetings, publications, and the BIS website; drafts short notes on topics in support of the preparation of meetings or publications.Statistical ITParticipates in testing new statistical applications and implements them in an efficient manner.Monitoring of international statistical developmentsFollows and studies statistical methodologies and technical developments in central banks, supervisory authorities and various international statistical groups.External representationAttends international meetings at the BIS and externally to learn about statistical standards and issues.OtherCarries out other tasks, for instance, with respect to the unit’s internal administration and participates in departmental or bank-wide projects as required.The specific tasks assigned may change over time, depending on business priorities and team composition.Qualifications, Skills And ExperienceA master’s degree in economics, statistics, finance, or related subjects. Relevant job experience (eg at a central bank, an academic or other international financial institution, or a private sector organization) would be desirable.Experienced with economics and statistical methodologies, in relation to national and financial accounts, money and banking, balance of payments, and financial statistics.Proficiency in at least one statistical programming language (eg Matlab, Python or R)Knowledge of statistical databases (eg. SQL) and related statistical IT applications and end-user application (eg Office);Experience with statistical software packages and scripting languages.Good analytical skills and ability to learn new techniques.Fluency in spoken and written English.
