About The RoleWe are looking for a Quantity Surveyor with great energy and drive to join our project team based in Hamilton, with travel to our Pukete project as required.As the Quantity Surveyor, you’ll provide specialised support in the areas of procurement and commercial governance of the head contract, subcontracts, and supply agreements. This is an integral role within the project team, reporting to the Commercial/Project Manager.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver all commercial activities required for the project in line with company procedures.Manage the procurement process in accordance with corporate policy.Develop and implement project-specific procurement strategies with input from the Project Manager.Manage smaller procurement packages for tender and delivery within the overall work package.Prepare subcontract and supplier agreements, including requests for quotation, tender evaluations, and negotiation of terms in line with company requirements.About YouBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.Minimum of 3 years’ experience preparing quantity and cost estimates.Minimum of 3 years’ experience analysing contractor and supplier bids and awarding contracts.Experience with Value Engineering techniques (preferred).Strong costing and analytical skills, ideally from within the construction or building industry.Proven record of ethical negotiation and achieving procurement cost savings.Excellent planning, organisation, and time management skills.Solid understanding of HS&E requirements.Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across all organisational levels.Demonstrated flexibility, problem-solving ability, and resilience in a fast-paced project environment.About UsMcConnell Dowell – Creative ConstructionOur purpose is Providing a Better Life.
