Job Title: Quantum Researchers/ Experimental and Theoretical ----------------------- 1st type: Experimental Quantum researchers: Location:Qubitcore Okinawa R&D Center, OIC2-207, Innovation Core 2 Work style:Remote work is negotiable depending on responsibilitiesDomestic and international travel may be required Benefits:Full social insurance coverage (health, pension, employment, and workers’ compensation)Annual health checkups Job Summary:Lead the development of the next-generation ion trap quantum computers and foundational technologies that will enable truly scalable and practical quantum computing. We are looking for AMO experimentalists with skills in operating lasers, optics, UHV systems and electronics, and with knowledge in cavity QED and quantum optics theory. In addition, researchers with expertise in microfabrication, integrated photonics and MEMS are highly valued. Job Description (Responsibilities):Propose novel approaches to quantum error correction and quantum algorithmsAnalyse and optimize their application to real quantum hardwareConduct numerical simulations of quantum systemsDevelop new theoretical frameworks for foundational technologiesAnalyse experimental results from hardware teamsContribute to publications and intellectual property developmentRequired Qualifications:PhD (or expected completion) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related fieldProven experience in experimental research Required skills:Foundational knowledge of quantum physics or quantum opticsBasic understanding of quantum computing principlesHands-on experience in experimental research especially in the fields of lasers operations and and optics, cavity QED theory and experiments, UHV system, and electronics controls.Microfabrication research in MEMs design and fabrication.Proficiency in data analysis and programming using Python, MATLAB, or equivalent tools Preferred Skills:Experience conducting experiments with quantum hardwareTrack record of academic publications and leading research projectsExposure to interdisciplinary collaboration and participation in international conferencesKnowledge and experience in atomic physicsFamiliarity with ultra-high vacuum systemsExpertise in laser systemsUnderstanding of ion trap technologiesExperience with cryogenic experiments using cryostatsProficiency with development tools such as Git Experience:Management experience appropriate to the level of the position Education:PhD (completed or expected) in a relevant field ----------------------------------- 2nd type: Theoretical Quantum researchers: Location:Anywhere (Full remote is OK). The topics include qubit gate design and optimization, quantum error correction and quantum algorithms for near-term applications. We are specifically looking for quantum information experts who can develop, analyze and benchmark quantum error correction protocols that are optimized for distributed quantum computing using trapped ions.
