As Guidance Officer, you will provide expert counselling and advice on a wide range of issues, including educational, behavioural, vocational, personal, social, family, and mental health and wellbeing concerns. As Guidance Officer, you will be instrumental in supporting student growth by fostering resilience, promoting wellbeing, and guiding students through key life and learning transitions. As Guidance Officer, your success will depend on your ability to build and nurture strong, positive relationships with students, parents, and staff across a large and dynamic school environment.
As The Guidance Officer You WillProvide professional expertise, leadership and support to school communities and networks in the development and implementation of plans, programs, and procedures to assist students in achieving positive educational, developmental and lifelong learning outcomesCollaboratively negotiate, develop and implement programs for students that have a focus on preventative and early intervention strategies; are responsive to identified personal, social, emotional and educational needs; and aim to foster resilience and personal skills development. Provide support services in collaboration with other school-based personnel and external support providers in a variety of educational contexts, including schools and alternative education programs.
Your ResponsibilitiesAs the Guidance Officer, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Advocate, provide counselling, psychoeducational assessment and individual student support, recommendations and advice to students, teachers and parents concerning educational, behavioural, career development, mental health and family issues. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and facilitate effective working relationships and partnerships with parents, school personnel and external support agencies in order to provide a comprehensive support, case management and referral service that optimises students' access and engagement in educational programs.
