About The RoleThe Head of Department - Student Services will be responsible for working with the Executive Principal and the Leadership and Management Team to implement the school's ongoing improvement agenda. The successful applicant will contribute significantly to a high-expectations school culture that is focused on continuous improvement to maximise each student's performance and potential. This will be achieved by proactively supporting the growth of students within your cohort, through tracking and connecting their academic and social outcomes to provide a holistic view of each student.

You will play a key role as part of the school's leadership team by delivering targeted and timely interventions to maximise each student's learning. You will also develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, parents, and staff to personalise education for individual students within a large and complex school community. Your ResponsibilitiesAs the Head of Department - Student Services, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Setting and maintaining high standards for student performance by leading your cohort to uphold the spirit of State High with a specific focus on improving learning outcomes and fostering a growth mindset. Leading a culture of developing effective learning behaviours that enable each student to develop intellectually, personally and socially. Accessing, tracking, connecting and analysing student data on a weekly/term/semester basis to target improvements in academic and social outcomes.

Initiating and monitoring individual student learning plans by connecting and engaging key stakeholders in the student's life as required. Maintaining a high visibility and presence within the school community. Identifying and regularly acknowledging, the progress, efforts, achievements of students in your cohort. Actively participating in learning and ongoing professional development that enable you to improve both as a leader and a classroom teacher. Maintain and develop productive and positive partnerships with parents, all staff, other government agencies and community groups to maximise each student's performance and potential.
