Job Description

Lead inclusive education in the Ipswich region – join the leadership team at Rosewood State High School. We are seeking a strategic and experienced Head of Special Education Services (HOSES) to lead inclusive practices and drive strong learning outcomes for students with special needs. You will champion curriculum and inclusion strategies, ensure compliance with legislation and policy, and build meaningful connections with families and the wider community. This temporary full-time position is available until 14 December 2026, unless otherwise determined. This is a temporary full-time position to commence in Semester Two 2025, until 14 December 2026 unless otherwise determined, with possible extension.

Our schoolRosewood State High School is a small secondary school in a rural community, with an enrolment of around 520 students. Our school's size fosters strong connections among students, staff and families, creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every student is known and valued. With a strong focus on curriculum and pedagogy implementation in 2025-2026, the leadership team works collaboratively to ensure all students are given the best opportunity to succeed. Programs are tailored to meet student needs, and the school is committed to nurturing resilient, capable learners who are well-prepared to contribute to their community and beyond.

In This Leadership Role, You WillLead the Learning Support department, managing curriculum, staffing and resources to support school-wide inclusionProvide evidence-based advice to staff and stakeholders to guide effective, reasonable adjustmentsCoordinate and deliver targeted interventions and case management for students requiring substantial or extensive adjustmentsOversee NCCD implementation and lead data-informed systems to track and support student progressBuild teacher capability in inclusive practice and support collaborative planning and implementationWork in partnership with school leaders, teachers, families and external agencies to ensure a consistent, student-centred approachPlease refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
