The Queensland Government plays a key leadership role in shaping a responsive, high-quality VET system that delivers industry-relevant training and supports all Queenslanders to access the skills they need — at every stage of their career. The Skills Policy Office is tasked with implementing and monitoring skills policy and priorities and ensuring Queensland remains a leader in VET, aligning with both state and national priorities.
The office includes expertise in policy, project management, data analysis and reporting, communication and stakeholder engagement and fiscal management. The Skills Policy Office works collaboratively with business units across the Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET) as well as other government agencies, industry and users of the VET system to ensure the strategydelivers on its vision that Queensland is a job-creating economic powerhouse driven by skilled Queenslanders. About The RoleAs the Principal Policy Officer, you will:
Support the Director, Training System Oversight by providing expert advice and strategic analysis to help deliver ongoing government priorities for skills and training. Evaluate both qualitative and quantitative data to provide strategic reporting and market analysis to guide investment decisions in the VET sector, ensuring system oversight within an economic, labour market and/or VET context. Prepare or oversee the preparation of strategic policy documents (e. g. , Cabinet submissions, Cabinet Budget Review Committee papers, reports, briefs and correspondence) to inform Ministers and senior executives on key issues that may impact decision-making processes.
