Job Description

Are you looking for a great opportunity to extend your skills and experience in educational research? We are seeking a Principal Research Officer to join the small and mighty Research Services team which deals with a wide variety of research-related matters including: progressing the Department of Education's research agenda; dissemination, translation and promotion of research projects and their findings; overseeing funding and research partnership opportunities and supporting departmental staff in research and evaluation activities and findings. This position is being offered in a temporary part-time (job share 0. 6FTE) capacity until 31 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

About The RoleResponsibilities include, but not limited to;Provide strategic leadership and expert advice on education-related research, including analysis of current trends and their implications for Queensland's education system, to support the achievement of departmental goals.

Critically assess and advise the Director, Research Services, on research proposals involving state schools and departmental sites, ensuring alignment with ethical and policy standards. Contribute to the identification and development of departmental research priorities to inform future initiatives and evidence-based decision-making. Lead projects and initiatives that enhance the department's research and policy frameworks, including evaluating the impact and value of research activities. Build and maintain collaborative research partnerships with universities, independent researchers, other programs, and the non-government education sector.

Analyse and interpret research findings, preparing internal briefings and drafting reports for publication that highlight the practical implications of the research.
