As a Principal Scientist you will participate in the development and management of collaborative research project proposals at State, National and International levels in the areas of wood-based composites, forest product manufacture and performance testing, preservation and protection system development.

Just imagine what you could achieve with us #passionandpurpose #DPIcareersThe opportunityAs Our Principal Scientist, You Will Initiate, lead and participate in the development and management of collaborative research project proposals at State, National and International levels in the areas ofwood-based composites, forest product manufacture and performance testing, preservation and protection system development. Provide high level advice and build knowledge in the area of wood science with a specific focus on wood-based composites manufacture, mechanical performances, bio-deterioration, material protection, wood preservation and protection and product durability.

Identify new and emerging national and international research trends, technologies and investment opportunities to ensure the future profitability and sustainability of the Forest industries in an environment of competing land uses, climate variability and change. Influence the adoption by industry of new technologies and practices and provide technological solutions and novel products to encourage profitable investment in sustainable forest resources and timber processing enterprises in Queensland. Prepare and review high quality peer-reviewed scientific journal publications, reports and technical publications. Prepare and deliver formal presentations at local, national and international conferences and industry forums.

Manage projects efficiently through the preparation and monitoring of budget expenditure, allocation and utilisation of project resources, and the adoption of new technologies and methodologies that maximise quality and efficiency. Create a working environment, which encourages the sharing and effective utilisation of complementary knowledge and skills within multidisciplinary teams. Supervise, train and performance manage staff in multidisciplinary teams or work independently as required. A current ā€œCā€ class drivers' licence.
