This role is responsible for developing and maintaining quality and food safety systems to meet customer, third-party, and legislative standards, ensuring consistent product excellence and compliance. Reports to: Quality ManagerKey Responsibilities: Customer Specifications: Implement and manage detailed product specifications and quality standards for finished products. Maintain internal factory specifications and ensure they align with customer requirements. Confidently use various customer specification systems (e. g. , Micros, Hamilton Grant, FIND). Quality Management System & HACCP: Maintain document control and the overall quality management system. Update process documentation and check sheets as required for improvements, audits, and customer needs.
Support the internal audit programme and participate fully in external food safety and quality audits. Ensure full traceability throughout processes, carrying out traceability exercises as needed. Testing & Compliance: Oversee raw material, in-process, and finished product evaluations. Implement and manage microbiological, chemical, and physical testing schedules within budget. Conduct daily organoleptic assessments. Report non-conformances promptly, support root cause investigations, and collaborate to implement preventive actions. Investigate customer complaints in cooperation with production and maintenance teams. Manage quarantined products, maintaining traceability and coordinating rework or disposal. Manage shelf-life testing for chilled and frozen products.
Liaise with New Product Development (NPD) teams to support the launch of new products. Technical Administration: Maintain detailed records for due diligence and audit purposes. Collate and analyse technical data, identify trends, and recommend actions for continuous improvement. Implement quality improvement initiatives in both manufacturing and business processes. Organise and maintain records for equipment calibration. Oversee pest control measures and ensure accurate record-keeping in partnership with external contractors. Qualifications, Skills & Experience: A minimum of a recognised Diploma in a food-related discipline or relevant industry experience. Ideally 1 year of QA/QC experience in a food manufacturing environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to perform well under pressure. Excellent proficiency in MS Office tools. Flexible, adaptable, and self-motivated. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with fluency in English. Effective problem-solving abilities.
