This is an important step in the transformation journey of Cement, as set out in our GREEN26 strategy.About The RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and motivated R&D Engineer with a PhD in Chemical Engineering or a related field to join our Green Technology team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in process design, process modeling, and a strong background in green technologies and CO2 emissions reduction. This role requires expertise in functional safety, ATEX, safety risk assessment, HAZOP, failure and root cause analysis, and technical documentation.About The DepartmentGreen technology today consists of 18 people and is part of Green Innovation and R&D that today counts approximately 30 people in Denmark, India and the United States. As an R&D engineer in Green Technology, you will join the team where we develop and commercialize combustion, pyrolysis, fluidized bed technologies, materials and emissions processes for FLSmidth to be the sustainability leader in the cement industry. Our department is composed of R&D engineers and project managers, where we each contribute to multiple projects. We are based in Valby and travel frequently to our test center in Dania (Mariager) and to the customer sites for field tests and measurements. We get resources globally assigned to our projects and embrace a culturally diverse atmosphere. The role can be based in Dania or Valby depending on the candidate.Your ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and optimize processes to reduce CO2 emissions in cement production.Create and maintain process flow diagrams and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (PNIDs).Conduct process modeling and simulations to evaluate and improve process performance.Design and conduct experiments, pilot testing, and operation of pilot plants.Operate and maintain lab equipment for process development and testing.Perform failure and root cause analysis to improve process reliability and safety.Ensure compliance with functional safety requirements, ATEX regulations, and safety risk assessments.Conduct HAZOP studies to identify and mitigate potential hazards in the process design.Prepare and maintain technical documentation for processes and equipment.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement green technologies and improve process efficiency.What You Bring Knowledge in one or more of the following: Preheaters, burners, reactor designs, alternative fuels and combustion processes.3+ years of experience in industrial process optimization, preferably within the cement or sustainability sector.Data analysis and engineering calculationsWhat We OfferA truly international environmentAccess to a unique career framework to develop your careerWe know you have a life outside of work which is why we offer a range of benefits that allow you to plan your life accordingly.
