The Mount Magnet Mining (MMG) area consists of multiple active and historic open pit, underground and satellite operations, with an overall 17 year mine life. Current active mining areas include the Galaxy underground, Cue open pit and Penny underground mine. Future planning for the operation includes a strong pipeline of underground and open pit operations, as well as extensional drilling at the current operations to add to their existing mine life.
The RoleOur newly created Graduate programme will give you the opportunity to rotate through the Underground and Open Pit mining teams, as well as complete practical time required to achieve your First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency. Mentored and supported to develop your skills, you will work with our brightest talent to build an exceptional foundation to successfully launch your career.
Learn how to produce fit for purpose drill and blast designs that support safety, production and cost objectivesAssist in developing short-term mine plans and schedules for both open-pit and underground operationsAssist in monitoring and optimising the use of mining equipment and machineryAssist the vent officer to conduct primary and secondary ventilation surveys and analyse and present vent reports. Track and report on mining activities to ensure efficiency and compliance with operational targets.

Tertiary qualifications in Mining EngineeringVacation work experience in mining would be an advantageSome exposure to CAD design programmes such as Deswik would be an advantageOpen to feedback, eager to learn, and willing to refine skills based on guidanceClear and concise communication skills, both written and verbalDemonstrated proactive, adaptable and tenacious approachA current West Australian C Class (manual) driver’s licence and the ability to obtain a National Police Clearance for site access clearance.
