Serve as assistant to Science Festival Director to help to plan and run annual event, including fund-raising, planning and running activities, and managing volunteers.
Essential FunctionsServe as the Program administrator of the SUPER STEM Honors Program at Randolph, completing administrative tasks, helping to make sure we are fulfilling all of our commitments to the program and outside funders, planning and running activities and field trips for students, tracking student participants, and meeting with student participants regularly. This position needs to particularly track, meet regularly with, and help guide participants who are struggling academically.
Serve as Science Festival Assistant, helping to organize planning meetings throughout the year, working with areas of the college who do fundraising, help to plan and run outreach activities throughout the year and for the Festival, complete administrative tasks for the Festival, and help to manage student volunteers. This position needs to particularly work with managing the approximately ten student interns each year, working with them to make sure they know what they need to do and helping to make sure they get their jobs done.
The number of hours may vary greatly from week to week depending on time of year but will average 16 hours per week throughout the year. Typically working in an office environment, but also in outreach situations working with groups in schools or in the public. Must work effectively on a regular basis with members of the faculty and staff members in Athletics, Admission, Student Affairs, Alumnae/Alumni Relations, Institutional Advancement, and other College offices. Physical demandsWorking environment includes both indoors and outdoors. Position requires a full range of body motion, including reaching, stooping, kneeling, climbing and walking. May be standing/walking/sitting for extended periods of time. May travel some for outreach or conferences.
Nights and weekend work will be required for field trips, outreach, and special eventsTravel requiredLocal travel to pick up or deliver supplies. Outreach events at schools or universities, infrequently overnight. Occasional field trips with students in town or out of town. Required Education And ExperienceWorking knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office, and quick learner of Randolph College programs and online tools. Good telephone etiquette, writing proficiency, natural organizer, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills. Must have the ability to adapt to changing environment. Must be able to help to manage and guide college students.
Preferred Education And ExperienceFour-year degree or some college preferred. Significant experience in an academic environment. Experience working with groups of younger students in an educational setting (particularly outreach) is preferred.
