Real Estate Special Situations Associate

Job description• Our client is a prestigious investment firm with over $40bn in AUM. They seek to hire an associate on the Real Estate Investments team with a focus on distressed and special situations investing.ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting real estate investment opportunities both at the corporate and asset level. This is a small investment team and the associate will get responsibility across the entire life cycle of the deal.Responsibilities of the role include:• Assist in the underwriting and due diligence of new CRE related investment opportunities across the capital stack• Structure/Build detailed financial models and asset valuation tools to support investment decisions• Forecast operating performance, financial projections and business plan scenarios for deal-specific underwriting• Assisting with creating initial screening memos and final investment memos which will be presented before the Investment Committee• Assist in the preparation of asset-level recommendations for senior management• Prepare strategic plans for assigned properties and contribute to overall portfolio plansQualifications• 2-5 years of experience of total work experience in real estate credit role, real estate acquisitions or in investment banking• Significant financial modelling experience• Advanced Excel knowledge, including ability to summarize data via formulas, lookups, Pivot Tables, conditional formatting, etc.• Strong quantitative skills and demonstrated analytical and problem solving ability• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
