Job Description
The Meat Markets are a specialised and unique department in Shoprite. Meat Markets current operate in a number of countries outside of South Africa (e.g. Mozambique, Namibia, Botswana, Angola & DRC) The Regional Manager in the specific country will manage and take accountability for the Meat Market Operations (butcheries) in a designated region/s.Management // Reports // Systems:Daily communication with Butchery Manager (or Senior Meat Technician in the absence of the Manager) Daily sales per butchery needs to be checked daily from SAP – top articles / sales lines, POS overrides etc. Weekly checking on authorised trading returns, item returns and barcode scanning percentages etc. Orders checked against rate of sales in relations to frequency of deliveries as well as linked to availability of stock at wholesalers to ensure that the butcheries are trade ready Probe investigation of GPs, overstocks, shrinkage and expiry dates when necessary IBT process (reference to inter branch transfer) to be approved by Divisional Manager and Operations Manager to be informed. Visit butcheries at least once a month especially with reference to the outlying regions and frequent visits to be done weekly in the city where they reside or as per your Trading Manager instruction. Butchery reporting feedback is to be issued to both the Trading Manager and Divisional Manager Coordinate the opening of new butcheries as per Company standards Inventory to be taken at least a minimum of two weeks at different butcheries per month which must be signed off by the Butchery Manager, Security and relevant Regional Manager Receive approval by Senior Management for the transferring of asset for repair purpose or butchery needs. Receive approval of the scrapping of assets in line with Senior Management Ensure the maintenance of all equipment in butcheries as per the necessary health and safety within country. Monitor compliance with standardized brand and image. Monitor compliance with cutting specifications and packaging standards. Monitor client experience in store when visiting stores. Monitor client satisfaction and handle customer complaints in a professional manner as per Company Policy. Ensure the Meat Market checklist is done per store visit and sent to Divisional Office weekly. Hold Staff meetings at least once per month. Virtual store visits for far outlying stores, to include the Divisional Manager and/ Trading Manager. Virtual floor walks to be recorded and to be saved on a central drive to be viewable by Senior Management. Finance:Management of financial income statement per butchery as received by Senior Management Investigate till shortages to escalate to Senior Management, Loss Control Manager (within country) and Management in country Ensure that daily scale reports are received by the Butchery Manager (or Senior Meat Technician in the absence of the Manager) Ensure that all registers pertaining to GRV, ITB and stock books are safely secured in the Cash Office Ensure that a fully completed GRV, ITB and stock books are sent back to the Divisional Office in country and not to be destroyed within five years Ensure that the correct controls and disciplines are in place with the PCV (Petty Cash Vouchers) per butchery Human Resource:Understanding of country laws and regulations Applying the necessary disciplinary action taken in line with country HR Employment of new staff requires approval from Divisional Manager Recruitment of staff for new or existing butcheries Management of leave accrual and ensure that disciplines are in place Management of the current training course inline with the deficit report released Existing training needs to be repeated bi-monthly basis across all levels of staff Assist with staff empowerment and moral Essential:3+ years extensive experience in the Meat Industry inclusive of butchery operations experience Management experience of the various levels of staff Matric/Grade 12Job related skills:Computer Literacy Financial Skills / Numeracy Meat Cutting Driver’s License Working hours:Monday - Sunday Travel:Required Time away from home:Required Physical environment:Meat Market Offices and butcheries
