This approach to care provides respectful, compassionate, culturally safe, and responsive care that meets the needs, values, beliefs, and preferences of the patient, their family, and others identified as significant to their life from diverse backgrounds and settings.Position SummaryWe are currently seeking part-time Rehabilitation Therapists responsible for providing supervision and support to individuals with acquired brain injuries (ABIs). This position is based out of our Etobicoke Residential Rehabilitation site, which is a group-home setting that provides 24 hour care and programming for clients with ABIs and concurrent physical, mental, behavioural, and/or substance use challenges. With provision of comprehensive multi-disciplinary programs, clients are engaged in daily functional rehab and meaningful/productive activities. Goals you’ll be supporting may include: increasing levels of independence and participation in life activities, community reintegration, social reintegration, and avocational/volunteer activities to name a few! Overall, as a Rehabilitation Therapist, you will be part of a team that endeavors to deliver specialized care in order for clients to make strides in their recovery.QualificationsPost-secondary studies in social sciences or healthcare related areasG driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract, access to a vehicle and the proper insurance to transport clients in own vehicle is required (you will be transporting clients within the community)Availability to work on weekends, days, evenings, occasional overnights and some holidaysPlease note: this is a part-time position and hours fluctuate according to client censusThe ideal candidate will also possess the following:Experience working with individuals with mental health issues, dual diagnoses, behavioural challenges, chronic pain, or addictionsStrong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills, including managing challenging behaviours (e.g., aggression, elopement, inappropriate conduct)Ability to work independently, take direction, and collaborate effectively with a teamWillingness and ability to perform personal care, medication assistance, ADLs, administrative tasks, light cleaning, advocacy, and therapy implementationExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsPhysically capable of bending, stretching, and lifting Highly organized with the ability to complete tasks within set timeframesProficient with computers and secure email systemsCommitted to ongoing learning and professional developmentDuties & ResponsibilitiesWork with individuals with acquired brain injuries while assisting them with increasing levels of independence through individualized rehabilitation programs (responsible for up to 5 clients at a particular time)Complete documentation following company and provincial guidelinesFollow the designed rehabilitation program as accurately as possibleAssist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs); performing personal care, medication management, and various forms of transfer tasksAccompany clients on community outings as needed via external transport services or your own vehicleUtilize appropriate Crisis and Behavioural Management strategiesCollect required clinical data through documentation, tracking, etc.Complete research to assist with enhancing client programsOther clinical and administrative duties as assignedProvide flexible availability (evenings, weekends, overnights, occasional holidays)Ready to join us?
