Job Description

As a Reliability Technician, you'll play a key role in identifying and resolving technical issues, improving maintenance strategies, and supporting long-term reliability initiatives. This role combines technical expertise with analytical thinking to drive continuous improvement across the fleet.Your responsibilities include:Investigate failures and conduct root cause analysisAnalyze maintenance and performance data to identify trendsDevelop and implement reliability improvement actionsSupport fault-finding, modifications, and engineering changesImprove maintenance strategies and inspection regimesValidate reliability metrics and contribute to reportingAssist with technical training and mentoring of techniciansPromote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with regulationsRequirementsEssential Qualifications & ExperienceTrade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related field)Experience in heavy vehicle, rail, or industrial maintenanceStrong diagnostic and problem-solving skillsAbility to interpret technical drawings and manualsSafe and competent use of tools and diagnostic equipmentCommitment to safety and procedural complianceDesirable SkillsRail industry experienceKnowledge of rail systems and standardsRail safety worker competency (or ability to obtain)Welding and fabrication skillsBenefitsFree Train Travel: Enjoy complimentary train travel on Auckland passenger trains.
