Job PurposeThe Head of Marketing, East Africa, is responsible for the strategic development and delivery of the end-to-end marketing programme, with the primary objective of generating high-quality sales prospects (comprising digital enquiries and technician leads). This role encompasses ownership of the full spectrum of marketing ie digital marketing programme, innovation launches, product management, email marketing, brand development, and business marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and driving measurable commercial success to support the business in hitting its sales targets. Areas Of ResponsibilityExperience & Qualifications:
Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with business goals, focusing on lead generation and sales pipeline growth. Oversee the end-to-end marketing programme, ensuring seamless integration across all channels and activities. Analyse market trends, competitive landscape, and customer insights to identify new opportunities and refine marketing approaches. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track marketing effectiveness and ROI. Digital Programme Ownership: Lead the development and execution of the digital marketing strategy, including SEO, social media, content marketing, and website management, to maximise digital enquiries. Optimise digital channels for lead capture and conversion.
Manage digital marketing budgets. Innovation Launches & Product Management: Drive the successful launch of new innovations and products, specifically through the Route 1 training framework. Collaborate with technical, sales, and operations teams to ensure effective go-to-market strategies. Oversee product marketing initiatives, including messaging, positioning, and collateral development. Customer Feedback: Assisting with the Customer Voice Counts (CVC) surveysConducting customer research on certain subjects to help us understand why we're seeing certain customer behavioursEmail Marketing: Develop and implement a robust email marketing strategy for lead nurturing, customer engagement, and promotional campaigns. Manage email platforms, segmentation, and A/B testing to optimise performance.
Brand & Business Marketing Campaigns: Protect and enhance the brand image and reputation within the East Africa market. Develop and execute integrated brand and business marketing campaigns across various offline and online channels (e. g. events, trade shows, traditional advertising). Ensure consistent brand messaging and visual identity across all marketing touchpoints. Internal colleague communications as well as supporting the MD with promoting Reward & Recognition programmesProduction of Marketing Collateral: Writing and proofreading marketing materials, liaising with designers and printers, organising media events. Creating and managing production of leaflets, posters, flyers, newsletters, e-newsletters, and assisting with vehicle, uniform, and promotional item branding.
Collating materials for regional newsletters/magazines. Writing clear and concise business-to-business operational and marketing communications. Maintaining inventory and arranging distribution of marketing materials, including sales staff presenters. Maintaining a catalogue/price list of products and services and helping teams prepare presentations. Team Leadership & Development: Line manage and mentor a Digital Marketing Manager and a Product Marketing, taking responsibility for their learning and development. Set clear objectives, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews. Build a high-performing and collaborative marketing team. Stakeholder Management: Collaborate closely with the business sales team to ensure alignment between marketing activities and sales objectives.
Regularly report on marketing performance to senior leadership and key stakeholders. Work cross-functionally with other departments (e. g. IT, Finance, Operations) to support marketing initiatives. RequirementsExperience & Qualifications: EssentialExtensive Marketing Leadership Experience: Proven track record of at least 2-5 years in senior marketing roles, with a strong emphasis on B2B marketing within a commercial environment. Lead Generation Expertise: Demonstrable success in developing and executing marketing strategies that deliver significant volumes of high-quality sales prospects (digital enquiries and tech leads). Digital Marketing Knowledge:
Understanding and hands-on experience across the full spectrum of digital marketing channels (SEO, social media, content, website management) with a focus on conversion. Product Launch & Management: Experience in bringing new products or services to market, including developing go-to-market strategies and managing product marketing initiatives. Team Management: Proven experience in managing, developing, and motivating a marketing team, including direct reports. Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies that align with broader business goals. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret data, measure campaign performance, and make data-driven decisions. Communication & Influence:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. Project Management: Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Commercial Acumen: A strong understanding of commercial objectives and how marketing contributes to business growth.
