Our reliable and innovative technologies transform oilseeds, grains and tropical oils into protein feed/food, edible oils/fats, oleochemicals and biofuel.Join Desmet’s advanced R&D Centre to lead innovation in edible oil refining and oleochemical applications. You will design and execute lab and pilot-scale experiments focused on oil modification, biodiesel, and renewable fuels. This role supports our business lines in seed preparation, solvent extraction, refining, and sustainable fuel technologies. Collaborate with global experts to develop cutting-edge solutions for Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). Your insights will drive technical excellence and sustainability in food and energy systems. Key AccountabilitiesWork on applied research and development projects in the broad field of edible oil refining and modification, biodiesel and oleo chemistry (biofuels)Be involved in all phases of the R&D project, including preparation of the experimental set-up, the execution of necessary lab/pilot trials and the critical evaluation and reporting of the test results.Provide occasional support to audits and on-site trials in industrial plants. Represent the R&D team in internal and external meetings with other departments, research institutes and universities and/or clients.Collaborate closely with process engineers and refining specialists to drive innovation and technical excellence.QualificationsMaster’s degree in Engineering (Applied biological sciences, Food Technology, Chemistry).Relevant  experience in (bio-) chemical process technology is a plus.Practical skills to work with pilot and semi-industrial test units.Strong analytical skills for a critical evaluation and comprehensive reporting of experimental data.Proactive and self-driven.Team player with good communication skills.Fluent in English both spoken and written (any other language will be an asset).Willing to travel with short stays abroad.Our Offer You will join a global market leader in an international environment with highly talented and open-minded colleagues.Environment triggering your creativity where you can take responsibility.Pleasant, collaborative and diverse working environment.
