This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with leading scientists at the intersection of immunology, virology, and public health. This position is a 12 month fixed term employment (SÄVA).Your missionWe are seeking a highly driven individual to join our cell-mediated immunity team at the Center for Infectious Medicine, Karolinska Institutet. You will work closely with the lab manager, postdoctoral researchers, and PhD students in Assoc. Prof. Marcus Buggert’s group. Your primary tasks will include processing and handling peripheral blood and tissue samples from various human cohorts, preparing them for immediate immunological analyses and for long-term biobanking. You may also become directly involved in specific research projects focused on T cell biology and immune responses in human health and disease.Your profileThe successful applicant should hold a Master’s degree (MSc) in biomedicine, molecular biology, or an equivalent field at the start of employment. You must have documented experience in handling and processing peripheral blood samples, including preparation for downstream immunological assays and biobanking. Additional experience with human tissue processing, as well as work in BSL-2 laboratories, will be considered an advantage. For this position, we particularly value collaboration skills, reliability, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. We put great emphasis on personal suitability.It is particularly meritorious that the applicant has Academic training in human immunology during their Master’s studiesExperience with flow cytometry and immune cell characterizationExtensive experience in cell culture techniquesProven ability to process human blood and tissue samplesExperience in biobanking and sample logisticsFluency in English, both spoken and writtenIt is meritorious that the applicant has Molecular laboratory skills (e.g. PCR, RNA/DNA extraction, or RNA-sequencing library preparation)Experience with data organization, documentation, or basic bioinformatics (e.g. R, Python, or FlowJo)After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the applicants in relation to the subject area, Karolinska Institutet will determine which of them has the best potential to contribute to the positive development of the activities at KI.What do we offer?A creative and inspiring environment with wide-ranging expertise and interests.
