Department: GeographyVacancy ID: 038063Closing Date: 02-Nov-2025The Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) C3S2 311_Bis Project, Led By ICARUS, Maynooth University In Collaboration With KNMI, The University Of Salerno, And a Network Of International Partners, Supports The European Centre For Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) In Delivering High-quality Climate Data And Services. The Service Contract Builds On Previous C3S Activities, Ensuring Continuity And Reliability During a Period Of Global Uncertainty. This Work Covers Three Main AreasData Rescue – enhancing the joint WMO–C3S data rescue portal, developing a prototype image repository, improving the Data Deposition Service, and developing innovative approaches to data rescue, including student involvement, AI/ML and international collaborations.In-situ Observations – expanding and improving climate datasets in the Climate Data Store, updating land, marine, and upper-air holdings, and advancing global reference datasets in collaboration with international partners.Gridded Data & Climate Information – developing and maintaining key European gridded products (e.g. E-OBS, EOBS-EU, NGCD, LAPrec, EURADCLIM) and contributing to flagship outputs such as the European State of the Climate report.The project also supports communications, outreach, training, and quality assurance across the wider C3S programme.We are seeking a research assistant with experience in the climate data rescue, as well as knowledge of the collation, processing and provision of historical land meteorological data. The post will support a Copernicus Climate Change Service contract that is anticipated to run through to 30/06/28Salary ScaleResearch Assistant Level 1 (2025): €33,292 – €34,545 p.a.
