The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Associate on a 18-month contract at the Centre for Research in Pedagogy & Practice (CRPP).Project Title: Examining Environmental Stewardship in Singapore Schools: A Socio-Ecological PerspectiveProject IntroductionThe project examines how schools in Singapore embed environmental stewardship across leadership, teaching, infrastructure, culture and partnerships. It aims to distill evidence-informed insights to guide the mainstreaming of sustainable education across schools, fostering collective impact toward sustainability reforms. This project offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful, practice-informed research with policy and educational relevance.EssentialRequirements A Master’s degree, preferably in education, social sciences, environmental studies, or related fields.Keen interest in qualitative research and sustainability/ education issues. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills for engaging with school leaders, teachers and community partnersAbility to work independently, manage timelines and contribute to collaborative team effortsA meticulous, pleasant and mature disposition, with the ability to handle research data and stakeholder relationships professionallyPreferredPrior experience with qualitative data collection (e.g. interviews, observations) and analysis (e.g. NVivo) is an advantagePrior engagement with local school environment and education programmes will be considered favourablyDemonstrated ability to produce academic writing; having published in journals will be a strong assetResponsibilitiesConducting literature reviews and synthesising relevant researchSupporting project management, including recruiting participating schools, liaising with stakeholders, procuring equipment, overseeing transcribing work and managing project data in line with institutional protocolsCo-conceptualising research design and instruments with the teamCollecting data through interviews, observations as well as document and artefact analysisAssisting with coding and qualitative data analysisSupporting preparation of reports, presentations and academic publicationsOrganising and co-presenting findings at workshopsOther duties as assigned by the Principal InvestigatorApplicationApplicants (external and internal) will apply via Workday.
