We call it the Lambton Way, and we welcome applications from those who are interested in being part of it.ALL IN: The 2025-2029 Lambton College Strategic PlanAbout The PositionThis is a full-time support staff Bargaining Unit position working 35 hours per week at an hourly rate of $43.61Reporting to the Digital Transformation Lab Manager and taking direction and guidance from research centre Coordinators/Managers and working closely with the research teams, the candidate will function as a lead researcher working on different research projects in computer science and engineering including software development, web development, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, machine learning and other data related technologies. These will be in close collaboration with other research staff, including research students, industry partners and Research and Innovation Office staff where the Research Scientist will be responsible for execution of the projects.The incumbent’s duties will be developing and leading collaborative research projects, designing experiments, generating reports and presentations, communicating with industry partners as instructed, maintaining research equipment and contract testing.The incumbent will also be responsible for developing research projects and proposals, developing purchasing documents, recording the project progress and equipment status and helping with research outreach in collaboration with Research Lead and Applied Research and Innovation Office.Specific AccountabilitiesLead research projects in computer science and engineering.Lead, conduct and help with research activities including literature review, data analysis, and experimentation in collaboration with researchers and industry partners.Be involved with direct experiments and maintain accurate reports.Support with analysis and design of experiments for research projects: design, implementation, installation, calibration and documentation.Provide consultancy support to partners, industry representatives for development of new projectsHelp to prepare technical reports and presentation for research partnersWork with researchers to design and develop work plans and coordinate time lines for project completionAttend meetings with research teams and industry partners to update activitiesHelp the supervisor with coordination of research student’s activitiesHelp with selection, installation and implementation of various laboratory equipment and installation.Ensure that the projects comply with regulations, College policies and cybersecurity.Liaising with research partners, suppliers, contractors, and relevant authorities for purchasing as well as executing required tasksQualifications4 year degree or equivalent Computer Science and EngineeringMinimum 5 years experience leading a research team and research projects, as well as in software developmentFamiliar with database tools, programming languages and testing toolsStrong knowledge of Microsoft officeStrong commitment to overall health and safetyWell-developed analytical, problem-solving and evaluation skills required to troubleshoot, problem-solve and provide analytical solutions to a wide variety of situations.Lambton College is committed to an inclusive, barrier-free selection process.
